Germans, board games, and my brain.

guy:

Within this Wired Article about the board game, Settlers of Catan, lies this interesting factoid:

Germans, it turns out, are absolutely nuts about board games. More are sold per capita in Germany than anywhere else on earth. The country’s mainstream newspapers review board games alongside movies and books, and the annual Spiel board game convention in Essen draws more than 150,000 fans from all walks of life.

This is exactly the kind of nugget that will stick in my craw until I meet a poor unsuspecting person from Germany and say something horrible like: Hey, you Germans love boardgames, huh?

At which point I’m sure they will think to themselves: Yes, as much as you Americans love McDonald’s.

Bad brain. Bad. I command you not to store this fact for later use.

OMG they totally do, that’s a true story. And you know what’s worse? They hate losing. Scary folks ;)
