neitherfamenorfortune replied to your photo: Victor and Sparky characters from Frankenweenie -…

was it any good?

Frankenweenie was great fun - albeit a little too Disney-polished, both in visuals and contents. I loved the roughness and the the disturbing nature of the original short film version, but I accept that whether by necessity or simply through the evolution of taste, Burton’s gone proper mainstream, and we have got used to the quirkiness of his aesthetics.

In any case, even though I think his work has lost some of its initial freshness and strangeness, I enjoyed the film and I think it’s very good. Go see it, preferably in 2D (the black and white is very lovely, the animation work is excellent, and nobody needs 3D anyway).
