TUMBLR MOSAIC VIEWER - byronic →
Looking at my tumblr mosaic viewer just gave me the sense of how great 2009 was for me, so full of colours, friends, images, new reads, laughs, tears, adventures, love, music, silliness, and EVERYTHING. I hope 2010 treats us all just as nicely. Happy new year, tumblrs.

Deutsch

I'll be home for Christmas - part 2
So we left Canterbury, UK at 7.20am to board an 8.30am ferry to France. Because of last weekend’s massive Eurostar/Channel Tunnel fuck-up, there was a huge backlog of cars and freight trucks stuck at the port of Dover trying to reach their destination across La Manche since last Friday, and instead of the normal 15 minutes it took us over two hours to reach the harbour and board the ferry. ...

Fear of the dark

Schrödinger’s cat is a thought experiment, often described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects. The thought experiment presents a cat that might be alive or dead, depending on an earlier random event. In the course of developing this...

A Serious Man
morgenstern: It’s one of those kind of movies that if you ask me whether i liked it or not i just dodge the question and start on a tangent about how it’s refreshing to see a movie not made in a factory, with the perfect three act structure, the handsome leads and all that hollywood bullshit like inciting incidents. Movies works or don’t regardless of that stuff. And, in an effort not to dodge...

McSweeney's: Letters to Santa Written By... →
BY CAROLINE BICKS AND MICHELLE EPHRAIM Dear Santa: How does my lord? I am fine. I believe ‘tis possible you did not receive my wish list last year, or that it fell into unsavory hands and was rudely tampered with before reaching you, as all you brought me was a chastity belt and some granny underpants. I pray that this one flies to you untainted since this year hath really sucked. I wish...

The Dead by James Joyce
“The air of the room chilled his shoulders. He stretched himself cautiously along under the sheets and lay down beside his wife. One by one, they were all becoming shades. Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age. He thought of how she who lay beside him had locked in her heart for so many years that image of her...

"The Clash Of The Titans" remake.
phillipreeves: Breaking news! The tagline has been changed. It is no longer: TITANS. WILL. CLASH. It is now: DAMN. THE. GODS. I’m going to love this film. Yes. How disappointing -  I wish it was: “damn, the gods!” Or: we’ve got all these crap gods! (*) *”And then the Romans came along with their gods that they had borrowed from the Greeks. They invaded Greece,...

I desperately want to have afternoon tea here: “The Parlour at Sketch: If the Mad Hatter were to hold his tea party in London, it would happen at Sketch. Stepping inside any of the rooms is like tumbling into a Dali painting. The Parlour is decorated in mixed-up furniture, with stag-head lights adding a twist to traditional British hunting décor. Tea is served on mis-matched crockery—Lauren...
